Do we cut curly hair Wet or Dry?
Unrulycurls was established in 2005 and caters solely to Curly Hair uniquely positioning us in the hair industry.
From its inception the staff had backgrounds in technical training from the Vidal Sassoon and Toni & Guy academies and if you go back in each of the academy’s history all its training and education in cutting was practised on wet hair. (This will help explain a little about how we got to where we are today).
We adapted this education to cutting curly hair and it explains why 95% of our clients are still having wet haircuts, I mean that’s the bedrock of how the brand UnrulyCurls was built.
Certainly there are some advantages to the latest approach of cutting hair Dry but mastering WET cuts and being able to judge the arrested fall of the curl after having completed the cut & diffuse is a unique skill.
Luckily we are fortunate enough to work solely with CURLS everyday and we are fanatical about education so adopting both wet and dry techniques just adds to our list of skills.
Steve our director has more than 10 years experience cutting curly hair WET and has a strong technical background, perfect for training new staff, and Anthony our other director has trained and is certified to cut DRY hair after training with the inventor of the Deva Cut/ Curl by Curl technique Miss Lorraine Massey and is only one of three people in London offering this unique approach to cutting curly hair.
Read what Anthony has to say in his own words in the Deva Cut section on the homepage.
